Duet, I & II
Within this gray rock, I discovered red, deep, beautifully marbled red! I eliminated most of the gray outer deposits, and I wanted somehow for the hand to be tempted to reach into the rock and feel the warmth of the redness. I carved a large bowl-like depression. That was too predictable, so I cut the stone into two unequal halves and now the halves yearn for one another and for the completion of an illusive sphere, hovering over it.
